There is a connection between faith and grace that we must understand if we are to thrive and flourish as Christians. Traditional religious teachings say that we must work our faith until it is strong enough to produce results. However, our own faith is flawed and imperfect when compared to Jesus’ perfect and complete faith. His faith is the same as God’s faith, and is based in His finished works; this is the kind of faith we need. In the midst of the fear of punishment and condemnation that religion teaches, God’s grace shows us the power of His goodness and mercy that changes people’s minds and causes them to repent. Grace is the only thing that can transform us for the better; transformation begins when we believe and receive God’s unearned, undeserved favor. Confidently trusting in Jesus and in what He did for us moves us away from guilt and sin-consciousness and puts us in right-standing with God.
